Iran Bans Travel to Covid High-Risk Zones in New Year Holidays

Financial Tribune: President Hassan Rouhani on Saturday announced a ban on travel to areas with high coronavirus transmission rates during the fast approaching Iranian New Year holidays (starting March 21) to stem the spread of a fourth wave of infections. “Travel to cities coded orange and red are prohibited. Do not plan to travel to those regions,” Rouhani said in the weekly meeting of the National Coronavirus Headquarters, President.ir reported.

Crowds of holiday shoppers are preparing for the 13-day Iranian New Year holidays, fanning fears that a fourth wave of the disease will be triggered. “The country’s healthcare system has a limit … I’m asking people not to take trips for the sake of their own safety,” the president warned. Based on the extent of transmission rates, the government color-codes regions as blue, the safest category, and yellow, orange and red, which marks the highest-risk areas. A total of 43 cities are currently coded orange and red, but their number will most likely increase over the next two weeks. Health officials update the status of cities every week.

Iran sets travel restrictions for four provinces

TEHRAN-TIMES: Restrictions aimed at slowing a surge in coronavirus cases have been set for four Iranian provinces, which have recently been designated as high-risk “red zones”. “Travel to and from Khuzestan province is completely restricted and it is not possible to travel to or leave Khuzestan,” the deputy traffic police chief, Seyyed Teymour Hosseini, told ISNA on Thursday.

“Moreover, it is not possible to travel to the three northern provinces of Gilan, Mazandaran, and Golestan due to the corona situation [there] and the decisions taken to prevent the spread of the virus.” Furthermore, the senior police officer announced that travels to and from Mashhad, Shiraz, Isfahan, Bushehr, Bandar Abbas, Kish, and Qeshm have been limited until further notice.

Im Jahr 2020 stieg der deutsch-iranische Außenhandel auf 1.822 Millionen Euro und damit im Vergleich zum Vorjahr um 6%. Deutschland lieferte Waren im Wert von 1.547 Millionen Euro (2%); die iranischen Lieferungen nach Deutschand lagen bei 275 Mio. Euro (33%).

Wichtigste Warengruppen bei den deutschen Lieferungen nach Iran im Jahr 2020 waren Maschinen, Apparate und mechanische Geräte (365 Mio. Euro), Getreide (257 Mio. Euro), pharmazeutische Erzeugnisse (190 Mio. Euro), optische, photografische usw. Erzeugnisse (124 Mio. Euro) sowie elektrotechnische Erzeugnisse (86 Mio. Euro).

Die iranischen Lieferungen nach Deutschland im Berichtszeitraum setzten sich u.a. zusammen aus geniessbaren Früchten und Nüssen im Wert von 124 Mio. Euro, pharmazeutischen Erzeugnissen (33 Mio. Euro), anderen Waren tierischen Ursprungs (Häute und Schafsdärme) (37 Mio. Euro), organische, chemische Erzeugnisse (21 Mio. Euro), Teppichen (17 Mio. Euro), sowie Schellack, Gummen, Harz, Pflanzensaft (16 Mio. Euro).

Iran-EU27 Trade in the year 2020 at almost 4.5 Billion Euro

EU27-Iran Foreign Trade in the year 2020 generated 4,463 million Euro.

The 27 EU countries (without the United Kingdom) exported goods worth € 3,750 million Euro to Iran and imported goods worth € 658 million. Germany was the most important EU trade partner of Iran, with a trade volume of 1,814 million Euro, followed by Italy (668 million Euro) and the Netherlands (639 million Euro).

The European Union (EU27) export of goods to Iran in the the year 2020 stood at 3.750 million Euro, a decrease of 15% compared to the year 2019. According to the latest data by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, 41% of the EU exports to Iran came from Germany that delivered goods worth € 1.550 million, that was 2% more than in the year 2019. Second (15%) was Italy with exports worth € 561 million (-32%), followed by the Netherlands (€ 363 million, -25%).

In the year 2020 the 27 EU countries imported goods worth € 713 million from Iran (+5%). Most of the Iranian exports to the European Union (37%) go to Germany, which imported goods worth 264 million from Iran (+37%), followed by the Netherlands (€ 114 million, +276%) and Italy (€107 million, -30%).

Iran’s Non-Oil Trade stands at $59 b in 10 Month

Iran’s foreign trade, excluding oil exports, stood at $58.7 billion in the 10-month period leading to Jan. 19. According to Mirashrafi, exports accounted for $28.1 billion and imports reached $30.6 billion. Compared with the corresponding period of last year, exports registered a 20% decline in value. Imports saw a 16% decrease in value year-on-year.

Main export destinations over the period included China with non-oil goods worth $7.3 billion, Iraq with $6.4 billion, the UAE with $3.7 billion, Turkey with $2.0 billion and Afghanistan with $1.9 billion. “These five countries imported non-oil goods worth $21.3 billion from Iran, which account for 76% of the value of Iran’s overall exports over the period under review,” he said.

Major importers were again China with $7.9 billion, the UAE with $7.4 billion, Turkey with $3.4 billion, India with $1.8 billion and Germany $1.5 billion. The IRICA chief noted that goods worth $22.0 billion were imported from these five countries, which account for 72% of the value of Iran’s total imports over the period.

“A total of 5.8 million tons of cargo were transited across the country over the period, indicating a 9.5% decline YOY,” he added.
