The latest statistics of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) shows that Iran’s foreign trade volume in the first two month of the year 1402 (Mar. 21 – May 19 2023) has reached 15.454 billion US-Dollar, that is 9% less than in the Iranian first two month of the year 1401. 

The export volume of non-oil goods (excluding crude oil, fuel oil and kerosene and also without considering exports of luggage trade) in the first two month of the year 1402 val­ued at 7.513 bil­­­lion US-Dollar (-14%). China ($ 2,418 million), Iraq ($ 1,228 million), Turkey ($ 835 million), the United Arab Emirates ($ 749 million) and India ($ 331 million) were Iran’s five major export des­ti­nations, which ac­coun­ted for 74% in total.

Iran imported goods valued at 7.941 billion US-Dollar (-5%) in the year 1401. Accordingly, China ($ 2,396 million), the United Arab Emirates ($ 2,313 million), Turkey ($ 903 million), Germany ($ 288 million) and Russia  ($ 269 million) together exported 78% of the goods imported by the Is­lamic Republic of Iran in the first two month of the year 1402.

The Statistical Center of Iran has released a new report on inflation in the first two month of the cur­rent Iranian year (started March 21). According to the latest data, the annualized inflation for the month under review (Ordibehesht) stood at 49.1%, up from 47.6% in the month before (a 1.5% ri­se).  In terms of year-on-year CPI rise, “hotels and restaurants” with 84.0 saw the highest among 12 groups of goods and services, followed by “food and beverages” with 76.1%. 

The Consumer Price Index was reported at 185.5, indicating a 54.6% rise compared to the same month of the year before.

Eurostat: EU27-Iran foreign trade from January to March 2023 generated 1,179 million Euro. The 27 EU coun­tries exported goods worth € 960 million Euro (-9%) to Iran and imported goods worth € 219 million (-20%). Germany was the most important EU trade partner of Iran, with a trade volume of 366 million Euro, followed by Italy (174 million Euro) and the Netherlands (159 million Euro). 

The European Union (EU27) export of goods to Iran in January to March 2023 stood at 960 mil­lion Euro, a decrease of 9% compared to the first quarter of the year 2022. According to the latest data by Eurostat, the sta­tis­tical office of the European Union, 30% of the EU exports to Iran came from Germany that de­livered goods worth 291 million Euro, that was 30% less than in January-March 2022. Second (15%) were the Netherlands with exports worth 148 million Euro (+63%), followed by Italy (139 million Euro, +23%), Belgium (73 million Euro, +30%) and France (68 million Euro, +17%)

In the first quarter of the year 2023 the 27 EU countries imported goods worth 219 million Euro from Iran (-20%). Most of the Iranian exports to the European Union (34%) came from Germany, which imported goods worth 75 million Euro from Iran (-15%), followed by Italy (35 million Euro, -18%), Spain (23 million Euro, -35%) and Belgium (20 million Euro, +54%).

According to the latest data, the annualized inflation for the month under review (Farvardin) stood at 47.6%, up from 45.8% in the month before (a 1.8% ri­se).  In terms of year-on-year CPI rise, “hotels and restaurants” with 85.6 saw the highest among 12 groups of goods and services, followed by “food and beverages” with 78.5%. 

The Consumer Price Index was reported at 180.5, indicating a 55.5% rise compared to the same month of the year before.

In den ersten drei Monaten des Jahres 2023 erreichte der deutsch-iranische Außenhandel einen Wert von 369 Millionen Euro und lag damit im Vergleich zum Vorjahreszeitraum 28% niedriger.  Deutschland lieferte Waren im Wert von 291 Millionen Euro (-30%); die iranischen Lieferungen nach Deutschand fielen um 17% auf 78 Mio. Euro.  

Wichtigste Warengruppen bei den deutschen Lieferungen nach Iran in den ersten drei Monaten des Jahres 2023 waren Ma­schinen, Apparate und mechanische Geräte (71 Mio. Euro), phar­ma­zeutische Erzeugnisse (43 Mio. Euro),  optische, photografische usw. Erzeugnisse (37 Mio. Euro), gefolgt von elektrotechnischen Erzeugnissen (18 Mio. Euro). 

Die iranischen Lieferungen nach Deutschland in den ersten drei Monaten des Jahres 2023 setzten sich u.a. zusammen aus ge­niessbaren Früchten und Nüssen im Wert von 23 Mio. Euro, anderen Waren tierischen Ursprungs (Häute und Schafsdärme, 16 Mio. Euro), Perlen, Edelsteinen, Edelmetallen (10 Mio. Euro), sowie Teppichen (8 Mio. Euro), phar­mazeutischen Erzeugnissen (7 Mio Euro) und Schell­lack, Gummen, Harz, Pflanzensaft (4 Mio. Euro).
