Based on the report of the Public Relations office of Iran Customs , during the first 3 months of current Iranian year ( started on 21 March , 2014), the volume of Iran’s foreign trade reached 21 billion and 214 million dollars. Based on this report, 10 billion and 867 million dollars of goods with weight of 25 million and 61 thousand tons were exported and 10 billion and 347 million dollars of goods with weight of 8 million and 845 thousand tons were imported in to the country instead. The analysis review of Iran’s foreign trade reveals that the trade balance is positive and the volume of exports have been more than imports but the exports and imports dropped by 9.96 percent and 14.48 percent respectively.
Also weight comparison of exports and imports demonstrates that Iranian exporters are interested in exporting raw materials instead of manufactured goods. The report further added that despite of 32 percent of decrease in exported gas condensate, the position of petrochemical products has been improved and the export value of these products increased by 12 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
Main export items
During the mentioned period of current Iranian year, main export items of the country include: petroleum gases and liquefied hydrocarbons with value of 576 million dollars and share of 7 percent, liquefied propane with value of 383 million dollars and share of 4.65 percent, and bitumen with value of 363 million dollars and share of 4.4 percent.
Main customers of Iranian goods
China with importing 5 million and 626 thousand tons of Iranian goods worthy of 1 billion and 928 million dollars was the first main purchaser of Iranian goods. The second position belongs to Iraq with 1 billion and 509 million dollars and 2.5 percent of increase. UAE acquired the third rank with importing 1 billion and 317 million dollars and 43 percent of increase compared to same period of the previous year and India stood at fourth place with 729 million dollars of imports and 46 percent of increase. Afghanistan with importing 611 million dollars of Iranian goods acquired the fifth place among other countries.
Main import items
The main import items during the period under consideration consisted of livestock corn with value of 356 million dollars, rice with value of 243 million dollars, wheat with value of 214 million dollars and soybean meal with value of 209 million dollars. The total share of these goods was 9.88 percent. Machineries for shaping mineral products were the fifth main import items with value of 209 million dollars.
Main exporters
China with exporting 2 billion and 606 million dollars and drop of 6 percent was the first main origin country. UAE with 2 billion and 395 million dollars and fall of 25 percent acquired the second rank. The next ranks belonged to South Korea, Turkey and India with 929, 782, and 636 million dollars respectively.
