Tehran (FT):   Lawmakers have decided to extend the pilot plan for enforcing the value added tax for the next fiscal year (starting March 21). In doing so, they have complied with the government’s proposed legislation, IRNA reported.  The VAT law took effect in the Iranian year to March 2009 and is being extended every year. Its current rate stands at 9% in Iran. VAT is a general consumption tax collected incrementally, based on the value added at each stage of production or distribution.
