Iran’s non-oil trade during the first month of the Iranian year 1396  (March 21- April 20, 2017)  amounted to $5.06  billion, that is not even 2% more than in the year before.

According to the latest report by the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration, Iran ex­por­ted $ 2.72 billion worth of non-oil commodities in the first month of the year 1396, down 10% to Farvardin 1395.  Gas condensates were Iran’s main exported commodity ($ 493 million),  followed by methanol ($ 132 million),  liquefied propane ($ 103 million), film grade polyethy­le­ne ($ 98 million),  non-alloy iron and steel ($ 97 million),  petroleum gases, li­que­­fied hydrocar­bons ($ 96 million), light crude oil and its derivates excluding gasoline ($ 91 million), liquefied bu­tane ($ 63 million), HDPE injecton grade ($ 63 million) and bitumen ($ 54 million).  China was the main customer of Iranian products, as Iran ex­por­ted $ 615 million worth of non-oil goods to the Asian country during the period.  Other major export destinations included the UAE with $ 497 million, Iraq with $ 388 million, India with $ 248  million and South Korea with $ 153 million worth of Iranian goods. 

In return, the country imported $ 2.348 billion worth of goods – up 18% year-on-year.  The im­por­ted commodities mainly included feed corn ($ 144 million), rice ($ 74 million), mo­tor vehi­cles with engine displacement of 1,500-2,000cc ($ 64 million) and soy­bean ($909  million).  Ma­jor exporters to Iran in­cluded China ($ 485 million), the UAE ($ 402 million), Turkey ($ 180 mil­li­on), South Korea ($ 143 million) and India ($ 131 million).  The shares in Iranian imports are 21% (China), 17% (UAE), 8% (Turkey),  6% (South-Korea) and 6% (India).  Germany hold place six with exports worth 121 million, resp. 5%.
