The total value of Iran’s trade with foreign countries hit $31.5 billion in the past five months, $5.542 million of which pertained to China, said the head of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran’s Office for Asia and Oceania Trade. Reza Abbasqoli added that the value of trade between Iran and China rose during the period. He noted that petrochemical products, gas condensates and iron ore constituted 60 percent of Iran’s export to China, ILNA reported. The official also said metallic pipelines, tractors and industrial machinery were the main goods exported by Iran to China.

Abbasqoli said Iran exported $15.192 billion of non-oil goods and imported $16.307 billion worth of products during the period. “China, Iraq, UAE, Afghanistan and India were the five main markets for the goods exported by Iran,” he said. Hamid Safdel, the head of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI), said in August China was Iran’s top trade partner in the first four months of the current Iranian year (started March 21). He added that in this period, trade with China reached $4.4 billion. “China accounted for 31 percent of Iran’s non-oil exports and 18 percent of its imports,” he said. Safdel hoped that foreign trade will be promising in light of the national will and comprehensive programs.
