TEHRAN, Jan. 23 (MNA) – Iran and China have signed Memoranda of Understanding to revi­ve maritime Silk Road and Silk Road Economic Belt.

President Rouhani and President Xi Jinping of Chi­na sat to sign 17 economic MoUs to trans­form the eco­no­mic ties to a new highs in the up­coming months. The most interesting and per­haps ambitious is to revive Silk Road, the his­torically used route con­nec­ting the Europe and Eastern Asia of the medie­val times and by which major goods were transited in the extre­mi­ties of the Eurasian landmass.

Head of National Development and Reform Commission of the People's Republic of China Liu He and Iran’s Minister of Economics Ali Tayyebnia signed the agreement to revive maritime Silk Road and Silk Road Economic Belt. AEOI head Ali Akbar Salehi and Chinese Atomic Energy Agency head signed an agreement for peaceful nuclear cooperation; a legal and judiciary agreement to cooperate bila­te­ral­ly in criminal cases and also trade and civil cases was signed between Iran’s Ministry of Justice and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.  President’s deputy for Science and Technology Mr. Sorena Sattari and Wan Gang, Chinese Minister of Science and Technology (MOST) signed a cooperation agree­ment on science. Other MoUs included head of Department of Environment Masoumeh Ebtekar, Iran's National Environment Fund and Head of National Development and Reform Commission of the People's Republic of China Liu He; industrial cooperation and investment agreement which in­cluded Iran’s minister of industry, trade, and mines and Chinese Mr. Liu He.  Iranian Communication and Information Technology Ministry and Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Techno­lo­gy (MIIT) signed MoU; several other MoUs focused on transportation, banking, trade and business, human resources, culture, customs and import tariffs and media communications and exchange of cultural products between Iran and China.
