The International Handicrafts Exhibition opened at Tehran’s International Fairgrounds on Wednesday with the participation of 850 Iranian and foreign craftsmen. The one-week event is being held concurrent with World Handicrafts Day (June 10). Nearly 800 pavilions are showcasing products, facilities and raw materials related to handicraft industries such as traditional garments and jewelries, carpets, ceramics, copperware, potteries, leatherwork and mat-weaving. The latest achievements in traditional handicrafts of Iran’s 31 provinces and eight other nations have been put on display in this fair. In addition, visitors can also get a view of the lifestyle of tribes living in tents.
