China, India, Turkey, South Korea and the UAE are the main exporters of goods to Iran in the first two months of the current Iranian year (March 21-May 20). Total exports of these countries accounted for 72 percent of Iran’s imports in this period, ISNA reported. According to Iran’s Customs Administration, UAE was the biggest exporter of goods to Iran in these two months. It exported over 1.95 tons of goods worth $2.22 billion to Iran, which is 110 percent more than the corresponding figure of last year. The figure accounts for 29 percent of Iran’s total imports. China’s exports also accounted for 21 percent of Iran’ total imports. Beijing exported 691,000 tons of goods worth $11.61 to Tehran, which is 69 percent more than last year’s corresponding figure. Iran imported over 719,000 tons of goods worth $693 million from India, which is 21 percent more than the previous year’s import. India’s exports to Iran accountted for 9 percent of Tehran’s total imports. Neighboring Turkey also exported 424,000 tons of goods worth $542 million, which accounts for 7 percent of Iran’s total imports. The figures also show a 10.5-percent increase in Ankara’s exports to Tehran compared to last year’s corresponding figure. South Korea exported 160,000 tons of goods worth $459 million, which is 16 percent less than last year’s corresponding figure. However, South Korean exports to Iran accountted for 6 percent of Iran’s total imports.
Iran’s foreign trade amounted to $24.24 billion in the first three months of the current Iranian year (March 21-June 20), Fars News Agency reported. Iran Customs Administration’s latest report suggests that the figure shows a 27-percent increase compared to last year’s correspondding figure. Non-oil exports accounted for $11.85 billion of the amount, which shows a 20.53-percent rise. The country also imported $12.386 billion worth of goods in spring, which is 35.63 percent more than last year’s import. Iran’s annual trade turnover is projected to reach $160 billion by the end of the Fifth Five-Year Development Plan in March 2016.
