Iran exported 13.732 million tons of commodities worth $6.137 billion in the first two months of the current Iranian year (started March 21). According to the report released by Customs Ad­ministration of Iran (CAI), the figure shows a 9.1-percent decline in terms of weight and 47.8-per­cent growth in terms of value compared with the corresponding figure of last year, Mehr News Agency reported. The report said tar, methanol, iron ore and concentrate comprised the major part of commodities exported during the period. More than $1.124 billion worth of pro­ducts were exported to China, which ranked first in this respect, followed by Iraq with $893 million, UAE with $559 million, Afghanistan with $422 million and India with $392 million. 

The report said about 4.173 million tons of goods worth $5.692 billion were imported during the two months, showing a 47.3- percent rise in terms of weight and a 49.31-percent drop in terms of value year-on-year.  Rice, oilseeds, wheat and corn for livestock were among the main goods imported during this period. China, UAE, India, South Korea and Turkey were the five main exporters of goods to Iran.
