The Statistical Center of Iran has released a new report on inflation in the first five month of the current Iranian year (started March 21). According to the latest data, the annualized inflation for the month under review (Mordad) stood at 46.7%, down from 47.5% in the month before. In terms of year-on-year CPI rise, “hotels and restaurants” with 60.3 saw the highest among 12 groups of goods and services, followed by “clothing and shoes” with 48.5%. Food and beverages were 38.3% more expensive in the month of Mordad than in the same month of the previous year. The Consumer Price Index was reported at 197,0 indicating a 39.8% rise compared to the same month of the year before.
