The Statistical Center of Iran (SCI) announced that the inflation rate in the twelve-month period ended on May 20, which marks the end of the second Iranian calendar month of Ordibehesht, stood at 29.8 percent. The inflation rate has fallen 2.4 percent in the mentioned time span from the last-months period. The average annual inflation has been on a downtrend since the middle of last Iranian year (March 2019-20).
The consumer inflation for the month under review (April 20-May 20) registered a year-on-year increase of 21.0% compared with the similar month of the previous Iranian year. The overall CPI (using the Iranian year to March 2017 as the base year) stood at 210.0 last month, indicating a 2.5% rise compared with the month before.
